what are the warning signs?

Warning signs that your teen is having trouble in a relationship can sometimes be fairly obvious. To an adolescent, relationships can be one of the most important events in her or his life.

If something is wrong, they may display signs of general frustration in life, such as irritability, depression, nervousness, laziness, rebellion, and a general discontent. Often they may fish around for answers to problems they are having in their relationships. Be keen to catch their subtleness and do not lessen their feelings. Talk to them as though these issues really are as important as they feel they are.

If you suspect the child you are concerned with has become apart of a cult or gang, the following are some warning signs to look for:

  1. It may be difficult for the child or teen to control relationships with friends and family outside the cult. They may also have trouble with their regular chores or activities, finances and other various responsibilities.
  2. They may experience negative physical and psychological side effects
  3. Sudden negative or violent change in their attitude or behavior
  4. Lack of concern or care in regular daily functions, even things they use to enjoy or participate in
  5. Suddenly withdrawn and quiet
  6. More secretive than before or hanging out with a noticeably different crowd
